Gladstone Churches of Christ CARE COUNSELLING

Our service

Counselling has been found to play an integral role in helping people work through the challenging and private issues that life can bring. Care Counselling is a service that offers specialised counselling for church attendees and people in our local community who are facing life challenges. Counselling isn't magic or a quick fix and it isn't coercion. It is a team effort to find the solutions, strategies, answers and particular truth and insights that is required in your situation. This service respects everyone's right to be heard, understood and cared for no matter how big or how small the problem might seem.

Our Model and Approach

A Holistic approach is used, addressing emotional, physical, and spiritual needs. Our professionally trained and compassionate counsellor will lead you to explore possibilities and discover solutions in an environment of support, encouragement, and confidentiality. The therapeutic model used varies depending on the needs of our clients. We major on:

  • psychodynamic – involving insight into the past by examining the family of origin
  • systemic – involving self-differentiation in the current family
  • experiential – involving emotional awareness
  • cognitive-behavioural – involving cognitive restructuring
  • communication – involving family communication

It is practical, flexible, client-focussed, family inclusive and biblically grounded. It is a model that effectively integrates spirituality, theology and psychology. Using the research and insights of psychology to help in the diagnosis of problems and to provide proven therapy techniques, we are also able to draw on the insights of the Bible and supernatural power of God to help bring healing, hope and restoration.

Payment is by cash and expected at time of service. A further session will not proceed without payment to previous session. We do not have credit card facilities.

We believe that within 3-6 sessions you should be feeling and seeing some marked progress on any one issue. If this isn't the case we reassess the situation and negotiate with you where to go from there. Some clients return for counselling after a break.

Further programs

Shed 19 is a facility available for churches and the community to assist in personal and relationship development and we are licensed to run Careforce Lifekeys programs. These programs offer key insights into why people struggle and how to bring hope and help in a supportive group setting. They cover core issues in the emotional, cognitive, behavioural and spiritual domains. The financial commitment is significantly less than one-on-one counselling but allow similar issues to be heard and understood, processed and allow accountability in a confidential small group setting. This is not a counselling service.

We currently have several Life Key programs at Shed 19 and we are keen to see more people move through these courses as they are life changing. Most programs go for 2 1/2 hrs over 10 weeks. Click here to download the scheduled program. For general information about the courses click here or for more detailed information, visit the Careforce Lifekeys website.

If we could assist you in any of these areas, please phone for an appointment on 0432 310 934 or contact Shed 19 office on (07) 4976 9393.
